Detox from Pollution

Living in a big city exposes you to many things. But poor air quality is a big factor that is often overlooked. Detoxing our bodies and our minds is important, but we also need to think about cleansing our system and our lungs from everyday air pollution.

Los Angeles is pretty notorious for it’s pollution. The smog is even visible as a thick dirty haze. As you descend from an airplane you can see how thick the smog layer is in contrast to the blue sky above. I know… but the amount of wellness centers and juice bars helps ease the pain 😉

But seriously, in order to feel better about my everyday inhalations, I decided to look into the Best city detox options. Some of these I implement often, and some I am looking forward to doing even more of. So, here are the best ways that I have found to detox from smog and city living.

Top ways to Detox from City Living

 

*Detox Baths- Preferably with Epsom Salt and Baking Soda. This is a great one that smells amazing and allows you to make a little healing spa in your City home.

Detoxing skin is a major factor! Our skin is what is seen by everyone and having it out of balance can cause a lot of insecurities. I know this firsthand from struggling myself. My favorite way to keep my skin clear is to use an all natural and incredibly healing face soap. This gentle soap detoxifies my skin and has even helped clear up a recurring rash that always seems to get worse the more I’m out walking in the city. xoxo

 

 

*Gluathione– This is the master Anti-oxidant. It helps your body detoxify from outside pollution by assisting the liver. Our body creates it’s own, but not always in the proper levels, especially if you are already burdened with toxins from processed food, medication or even chronic stress. Glutathione is becoming more and more well known and is very coveted in Hollywood. It’s known to be anti-aging, so it’s obviously sought out. The best ways to get it, (other than a healthy diet) would be through lypospheric blends, so your body can properly absorb it, or through an IV treatment. The latter is more costly, but like I said, it’s what’s currently hot in LA right now. This is the one that I put in my supplement rotation to make sure my levels are up 🙂

 

*Infrared Saunas- This is a Deep Level of Detoxification. It heats your body to even higher temperatures than a regular steam or sauna can. Allowing you to sweat even more without overheating.

My Clients have even told me that they see black coming out of their pores. They sweat black! Now that is detoxification at its finest 🙂

*In Home Air Filter- Having a high-quality air filter in your room will help immensely. A good filter will create such a clean environment, that you can take the effects with you for the first few hours of the day. Meaning, the pollution won’t effect you for awhile after you have left your little fresh air oasis.

and I noticed a huge difference in allergies and overall well-being. I no longer wake up with headaches or congestion, which is a huge plus.

 

House Plants- There are also great indoor plants that specialize in creating clean bedroom air. Placing one by your bed can be very helpful, or even on your desk. A great way to maximize oxygen and also bring some nature into a city home.

The best plants for cleaning the air in the home are; Aloe Vera, Spider Plants, Gerber Daisies, Boston Ferns and Philodendrons. I love this 🙂

 

I wanted to share these tips, because learning what I can do to have a little more control over my everyday health really eases my mind.

I know, it’s a trade-off living in a big city. There are so many benefits, but fresh clean air unfortunately isn’t one of them.
